This years crop of the Rabanales has delicious cherry and raisin notes, which, coupled with a single cream like body and the smoothness of caramel creates a well balanced cup.
Producer VENTURA FAMILY
Altitude 1650-1700 MASL
The Ventura family have been growing coffee at Rabanales since 1894, when Don Gregorio Zamora established the first coffee trees. Each generation have made their mark, be it more land, better roads or a new mill. With their proximity to Guatemala City, the current and 5th generation have stood their ground against the sprawling urbanisation and focused on producing higher qualities and new varieties to remain competitive and sustainable. Focus on providing jobs for the local community and preserving sections of the land as natural forest is also part of their philosophy. With in depth soil and foliage analysis and experimental pruning practices, combined with control over their own milling, the Venturas are modernising traditional methods and keeping their family history alive.
