After working on other people’s coffee farms for 40 years, Don Carlos Bautista finally got the chance to buy a plot of his own ten years ago. When he found Finca San Carlos he knew it would be perfect for growing high quality coffee, even with the challenges posed by the brutally steep climb to access the farm. The five hectare lot is cared for with the utmost dedication. Don Carlos oversees the planting, pruning, picking and wet milling, and for the first time this year he has been able to connect with a specialty buyer. He now gets a much better price for his coffee than he would selling it to the internal ‘coyote’ buyers. The five bags exported represents a new chapter in Don Carlos’ career as a coffee producer, and we’re very excited to share them with you!
