Alto Jaboticabas - 1

Alto Jaboticabas has been in the same family for more than 100 years, since Frederico and Berta Krug Grunewald emigrated from Germany to settle in Brazil. Today it’s in the care of Rodolfo Grunewald and his wife Celina, who have grown coffee all their lives and manage all aspects of the farm’s production. In 2002 they shifted focus from commercial coffee to specialty coffee, installed a huller and covered patios, and began fermenting in tanks. Cherries are now picked and pulped on the same day, before soaking for 12-15 hours. The beans are then pre-dried on an open patio and finished off under cover, which takes about 10 days. Since the early days of using a team of bulls to work the farm, to the modern vehicles and equipment they use now, their passion for coffee remains undimmed, and we’re happy to share their product with you.
