A firm favourite in our seasonal Ethiopian offering, we’re thrilled to welcome back Chelbesa. Brimming with all the fruit and floral notes Ethiopian coffees are celebrated for, Chelbesa offers sunshine in a cup. The first of two sites owned by exporting company, SNAP Coffee, Chelbesa washing station is located at 2100 masl, close to Worka Town in Gedeb. Managed by Girum Assefa, the proximity of the washing station means that farmers can get their harvest to the washing station within 40 minutes. Buying cherry from 615 local smallholders, Chelbesa is the largest coffee-growing area in Gedeb, with 1240 hectares cultivated with coffee. Leaving the cherry to ripen for longer periods, coffees from Chelbesa have a distinct sweetness and complexity leaning towards creamy tropical notes accentuated by pretty florals and fruitiness.
