Another fantastic coffee from Peru, this time from the Lima Coffee cooperative in San Ignacio. Full of nectarines and figs rounded off by all the sweetness of a pecan pie!

Set up in 2016 by Rony Guerrero, Lima Coffee is a young cooperative for speciality producers in the city of Jaen. With a background in exports, Rony realised that many high-quality, small-farm lots were being blended into bulk shipments undercutting price-points while destroying coffee quality and traceability. Membership of Lima Coffee is based on cup quality, targeting speciality producers and roasters, facilitating trade on an entirely different level to what had previously been available. This particular lot is from producers in the El Diamante area. Higher rainfall and cooler weather contribute to a more bright, complex and citrusy flavour profile, unlike the coffees of the region. The farmers pulp, ferment, wash and dry independently before delivering to the dry mill, where processing takes place. By both exposing and connecting farmers with new, speciality audiences, Rony has made an enormous difference through Lima Coffee, rewarding care and skill over quantity.
