Next up from Kenya is an old team favourite and juicy-fruit-bomb, Kamwangi. Located right on the border of Kirinyaga and Embu, we find its flavour profile remarkable - reflecting the brightness and intensity of Kirinyaga with the robust, blackberry qualities of Embu, Kamwangi is enchanting! Receives cherry from 1500 surrounding farms, Kamwangi is one of three factories managed by the New Ngariama Cooperative Society in Kirinyaga. The overly ripe and unripe cherries are hand sorted by the farmers before delivering to Kamwangi, and once in production, the cherry is depulped and left to ferment for 24-36 hours. At this point, the coffee is washed and graded by density in washing channels and taken to the drying tables, where they are sun-dried for 12 to 20 days. Striking the perfect chord, bursting with delight, Kamwangi gets a little happy dance from us!
