Kayon Mountain, hailing from the Guji region of Ethiopia is a bit special, as most coffee from Ethiopia comes from cooperatives or washing stations. This lot however is from the single farm of Ato Esmael and his family. Expect bergamot notes and apricots, all presented very delicately in the cup.

Ato Esmael and his family created their farm and coffee business in 2012, with the goal of growing high quality coffee with an added focus on social and environmental practices. The farm is about 240 hectares in size, and is planted with local varieties that are geared towards producing well in the soil and under the shade of the native forest on the land. The care and skill in how Ato handles his coffee shines through to the cup, and has that added intensity of flavours that often set coffees from Guji apart from other Ethiopian coffees.
