In this, our third year of buying coffee from the Los Girasoles farm, we’ve decided to roast our lot as an espresso, as the touches of stonefruit, flowers and coffee cherry we tasted on the cupping table in Costa Rica hinted that this coffee will make for a really delicious shot. Girasoles is one of the farms owned and worked by the Calderon family, which is made up of Ricardo and Lourdes and their kids Fernanda, Lizeth, Diego and Michael. On our recent visit were excited to tour some of their new farms as well as Girasoles, and spend time with the family in their warehouse where they’ve built a cupping and espresso lab, ensuring that they have control over the quality of their coffee from plant to brew. We recently had the pleasure of hosting Fernanda while she was here in London to gain experience in this side of the industry as well. We hope you’ll enjoy this coffee as much as we do!
