Lazaro Medina comes from a traditional coffee growing family. As a young boy, he helped his father on the farm and learned everything he needed to know to become a producer himself. Although he now tends his own plot of land, he still helps on his father’s plot with the post-harvest process by applying new techniques and traditional methods alike. Together with his two brothers Lazaro bought Finca Los Sauces, a farm in the Huila region of Colombia. They each own and work 2 hectares of coffee, but process the cherry as a collective to optimise workflow, efficiency and quality. They have started focusing on speciality coffee to gain better economic opportunities, and bring awareness to both their product and farm. Lazaro plans to support his family by establishing Finca Los Sauces in the speciality coffee world by producing exceptional coffees.
