Muungano is delicious. Decadent cherry, caramel and dark chocolate notes shine through the cup, making it the perfect treat for when those stay at home blues kick in.

Wonderfully fruit-forward, jampacked with a range of complex flavours we've decided to feature Muungano as an espresso and a filter to highlight its versatility and balance. Multifaceted and a pleasure to roast, we've been able to modify our roasting approach according to filter and espresso achieving a beautifully bright and fruity flavour profile in both instances. Meaning "togetherness" in Swahili, Muungano was started by 350 smallholders in 2009 and has since grown to a membership of 4200. A country still riddled with social and political turmoil, Muungano Cooperative has a strong focus on sustainable agriculture and organic practices, coffee quality and business training while empowering women farmers to help them achieve financial security. True to its name, Muungano brings otherwise separated communities together with four washing stations along Lake Kivu, serving settlements to the north and south of their headquarters and cupping lab in Kiniezire. A favourite among many, we hope Muungano steals your heart, as it did ours.
