Ntarambo - 1

A first-time purchase, Ntarambo is named after a small hillside east of Kayanza village in Burundi. Although we've had many coffees from the area, we find Ntarambo encapsulates the true character of the region with loads of cranberry and raisin sweetness finishing in a macadamia creaminess. Delivering exclusively to Mpanga Washing Station, owned by Jean Clement Birabereya, surrounding farmers receive extensive training and financial support from SEGEC Exporters. Working closely with the farmers, SEGEC and Mpanga Washing Station are doing their best to mitigate the risk farmers face with fluctuating world coffee prices while increasing transparency. By paying an initial fee for delivered cherry, they incentivise farmers by offering bonuses based on cup quality. The lower quality coffees will be blended together and sold commercially with the top-performing lots kept separate as micro-lots, such as Ntarambo. Bright and balanced we hope you enjoy!
