Made up of 830 female coffee producers, The Red de Mujeres, or ‘network of women’ covers five different areas of Huehuetenango, Guatemala. The product of 50 producers, this lot comes from the San Antonio Huista area. ACODIHUE (Asociación de Cooperación al Desarrollo Integral de Huehuetenango) was founded in 1996, to work with widowed women and abandoned families left behind by the civil war and coffee crisis of 2001. ACODIHUE works directly with Red de Mujeres teaching the women organic farming methods, from producing and applying fertilizers, to rust and pest control methods. Improving the quality of production even further, while uniting these female producers in finding international buyers and marketing their noteworthy coffee.
