Greater focus on speciality coffee production by the Junqueiras family has been well worth it for this lot, our first single origin espresso for the season from Brazil. Notes of orange, caramel and cacao nibs make for a smooth, sweet and very delicious espresso.

The Junqueiras family is one of the oldest families to settle in Poços de Caldas and one of the oldest coffee farming families in the area. When Brazil was still a Portuguese colony, sections of land were donated or distributed to petitioners in practice known as Sesmarias, in recognition of service to the crown. The Junqueiras gained a sizeable area in Poços and started farming coffee and raising cattle. Now, in its 6th generation, the land spans 290 hectares with 60 hectares divided into smaller coffee farms which are planted with varieties such as Catuaí, Yellow and Red Bourbon, Acaiá, Catucaí and some Arara. They process natural, honey and washed lots, and in the last 15 years have been increasingly focused on speciality production.
