From the Chota province in the Cajamarca region, just south of the more well-known areas of Jaén and San Ignacio, we’re welcoming Rufasto! On the cutting edge on what you’ll be seeing from Peru, we think this makes for one tasty filter. Our partners at Finca Churupampa started working with community leader Mario Jesús Rufasto and wider farmer group by providing technical support for them to assess their produce. A historically remote area, thanks to the combination of the open mindedness and intensive partnership between the farmers in Pariamarca and the expertise of the Churupampa team, coffee is being grown at exceptionally high altitudes of 2200-2400 masl (yes, really!) and a brand new culture of speciality coffee has been witnessed in the region. Standing out with fruity notes of strawberry, blueberry and a sweet fudge finish, we’re excited to see what else Rufasto’s group has to offer.
