Close to the border with Rwanda, in the Kayanza province, you’ll find the beautiful washing station of Yandaro. It’s named after the river in the valley where it’s located, close to the Kibira rainforest. This lush region produces some of the best coffee in Burundi, and this lot is right up there with the finest coffees we’ve cupped this year. Yandaro is known for accepting only a very high standard of cherry, and daily deliveries go through a rigorous sorting and screening process before being accepted. A classic washed Bourbon, the cup really shows that careful harvesting, skilful processing and gentle drying all come together to create a beautiful example of Burundian coffee.
