About
ABOUT
Half Caff gets a sweet refresh with Los Laureles from Huehuetenango, Guatemala and Altamira de Chirripó Decaf EA from Costa Rica. This Central American double-hitter has undeniable caramel notes along with the honeyed tones of summer fruits like melon.
Coffees from the northern Huehuetenango region were once known for their complexity. Producer Luis Hernan López keeps that tradition alive with this lot from Los Laureles, which has a few different faces. One sip will deliver elegant pear and macadamia nut flavours, while another shines with crisp raspberry and red grape. Despite having a high level of consistency in the raw material, this coffee is like a kaleidoscope with several dimensions all bound by sweetness!
We’ve found this to be a particularly good harvest from MICEPA Micromill, producers of the Altamira de Chirripó lot that we decaffeinated here with the Ethyl Acetate process. Dried fruit notes, creamy texture, and a lingering finish will have you coming back for more. This Half Caff version is a dessert-like treat!
