About
ABOUT
Central American coffee returns to Red Brick with Chirripó’s Altamira, joining southern Huila’s year-round harvest with Palestina’s Quebradón. Inviting with pear, almond and a deep cherry, chocolate sweetness, this is bound to make your morning cup dazzle. MICEPA micromill is back in Red Brick with their white honey Altamira de Chirripó. There’s been lots of development since we began our partnership in 2022. Rigoberto, a managing producer of the micromill, visited us in 2023. They’ve built a modern warehouse for coffee storage, crucial in the province’s wet climate. And a younger generation has come on board: producer Chepe Ureña’s daughter Isabel now manages all of MICEPA’s traceability, working with dry mill technician Steven to cup and calibrate with exporter Exclusive’s lab. This lot of Quebradón is another bespoke blend from Caravela Colombia’s QC team. Comprised of lots from Palestina in southern Huila, the traceability tells a descriptive story of the relationships with the buying station. For example, the largest contributing producer represents about 20% of the total lot. However, his portion was made of six smaller deliveries, over different days and from plots in different veredas (villages). Even within each farmer’s produce, the Caravela QC team is blending intentionally for these components.
