El Recuerdo

ABOUT

El Recuerdo is produced by Antonio Salaverria and his two sons, Andres Salaverria and José Antonio Salaverria, who represent the sixth generation of coffee producers in their family. The Salaverria family began their coffee farming journey in Huachapan, with José Antonio Senior taking over operations from his father in 1970. In 1990, they purchased Beneficio Las Cruces, where they process all the coffees from their various plots, and have since made significant improvements to the facility.

Previously, their coffees were mainly categorised under a few brand names linked to three main areas: Santa Rita, San Francisco, and El Molino. Since 2011, they have been collaborating with Nordic Approach on a long-term project to enhance quality and create more value. This has been achieved through improved processing and drying techniques, as well as improved traceability by separating lots such as El Recuerdo. Across the farms, traditional varieties like Bourbon Elite and Híbrido San Francisco (a local cross between Bourbon Elite and Pacas) remain prominent, resulting in a beautifully balanced, deliciously sweet and classic cup.
