      Juicy sweetness, and a smooth syrupy texture glow in this washed lot from Gitesi as it makes an exciting return to our coffee line-up!

      A demonstration of generational expertise in coffee processing, Father-son team Alexis and Aime Gahizi routinely deliver quality coffees from their private washing station using cherries purchased from over 1800 farmers in the Gitesi sector of Rwanda’s Western province. Alexis comes from generations of farmers in the Karongi district where Gitesi lies, and Aime, an engineering graduate, designed the station’s advanced water purification system, now used as a model throughout the country’s coffee industry.

      Competition for cherry is high in this region, so the loyalty that Gitesi Washing Station has with the farmers they partner with speaks to both their integrity and innovation; Since 2005, Alexis and Aime have introduced a host of initiatives to reinforce their bond with their community, facilitating health insurance, distributing seedlings and farm supplies, as well as issuing bonus payments to farmers who produce higher quality lots.
