Minas Gerais’ Aequitas Decaf and Cajamarca’s La Esperanza come together in our latest Half Caff. This springy combo brings silky texture and notes of yellow plum and strawberry to our all-day blend of choice!
La Esperanza producer Pedro Garcia Diaz coaxed out the best of San José del Alto’s unique terroir, bringing us jammy red fruit flavours like raspberry and strawberry. He uses what has become the new-school approach for the region, executed incredibly well. Catuai and Pache varieties are fermented in whole cherry for a day and a half before de-pulping, washing, further fermenting, and careful drying.
Aequitas Decaf is another single producer treat, from our recurring partner Yuki Minami. We chose this lot from her family’s farm in Cerrado specifically to pair with the ethyl acetated decaffeination process. Aequitas is her export company, focused on farmer equity in marketing coffee from like-minded farmers in Cerrado as well as burgeoning projects further afoot. EA Decaf of coffees from the Cerrado region has become one of our all-time favorites for filter, and working with Yuki for another year is a dream!
