We’re very happy to welcome back for another year the delicious La Estrella del Ostro. A coffee comprised of small lot contributions from a group of 50 producers in and around La Plata, Huila, Estrella is in many ways a classic example of how Colombian coffee is grown and processed. Each producer has a small piece of land averaging around 1.5 hectares, mostly planted with Caturra trees. They own their own wet mills where they pulp and ferment the coffee before drying it on patios or raised beds, often built on top of their houses. After the coffee reaches export level humidity, they pool their lots at the warehouse of the Cafe Belén Association, managed by Luis Gonzaga Camero, where it is kept until it’s dry milled and prepared for export.
