About
ABOUT
Red Brick’s current combination of Brazil and Colombia gets a minor refresh, maintaining our custom four-farm Sul de Minas blend and adding Peñas Blancas from Pitalito, Huila. Expect lush, creamy texture backing Pitalito’s signature notes of apple and black cherry.
Since 2021, we have collaborated closely with our partners and expert blend-builders, Bourbon, along with three small to medium-sized farms, Rosa Branca, Fazenda Recanto, and Sitio Barra, to build the exclusive Red Brick component and micro-regional lot, Sul de Minas Cluster. In 2025, we introduce a fourth farm to the cluster: Fazenda Barreiro from the Lotufo family.
A crucial ingredient in assembling Square Mile’s Huila blends is Duver Rojas, Caravela’s Quality Coordinator for Huila province. Rojas has spent over a decade giving feedback to farmers throughout Southern Huila. He and his team were instrumental in cupping each of the 63 lots from thirty-nine producers that comprised this year’s Peñas Blancas blend. His charisma is a draw, encouraging farmers to drive from far afoot so that Duver specifically will evaluate their coffee. This “client management” makes it more likely that thoughtful farmers will sell their lots at Caravela’s Pitalito buying station.
