About
ABOUT
Sitio da Torre Obatã and Decaf EA El Pato come together for a sweet, praline-like Half Caff. Producers Alvaró Coli of Minas Gerais, Brazil and the Quiroz Family of Tabaconas, Peru bring us this Half Caff with notes of baked apple, candied hazelnuts and red berries.
“El Pato” is a wider term for the community lots we work with from the Tabaconas area of San Ignacio province, in the Cajamarca department of Peru. Though this lot draws from the wider area, we focus mostly on the village of La Bermeja, and this past harvest specifically on offerings from the Quiroz family. Over a third of the coffee for this ethyl-acetate decaffeinated lot comes from the Quiroz.
Alvaro Colí of Sitio da Torre is a key member of the COCARIVE farmers cooperative in the Mantiqueira de Minas region. Known for his experimentation with process and variety, Colí has decked out his farm in joyful yellow tones: signs are painted in yellow, and shade trees with yellow blooms and leaves dot the farm. His naturally processed lot of the Obatã brings dark chocolate depth to this Half Caff iteration.
