CHOC ICE RECIPES
There are few better ways to transform a moment of dazing summer heat into one of cool relaxation than a deliciously refreshing iced coffee. By brewing your cold coffees fresh, you can preserve the delicious flavours and aromas that would otherwise be lost to staling, meaning tastier refreshment with each cup.
Enter Choc Ice; composed to be the foundation to your summer refreshment, and to transport you to that chocolate-covered ice cream crunch with each sip. A texturally rich pairing of Sitio Da Torre from Brazil and Altamira de Chirripó from Costa Rica, we’ve roasted Choc Ice to shine when enjoyed cold, delivering texture and richness in equal measure across the full spectrum of iced drinks.
From the clean and classic Iced Aerocano, to the show-stopping Mont Blanc, below, we’ve put together a series of Choc Ice recipes you can brew to keep the refreshments flowing throughout the hotter months.
Choc Ice Cold Brew
As simple to make, as it is delicious, you’ll want to make sure you stay stocked up on Choc Ice cold brew all summer long.
What You’ll Need:
- 85-95g of Choc Ice
- 1L of Filtered Water
- A container with a capacity of just over a litre, such as a French Press, water jug, or tub.
- Ice to serve
Recipe:
1. Grind your Choc Ice to a medium-coarse setting (similar to that for a V60)
2. Add 1L of water to your chosen container, and stir until all grounds are wet.
3. Leave your cold brew to steep for 30 mins.
4. A crust will have formed on top of your brew. Stir to break it, before covering your container.
5. Leave your cold brew to steep in the fridge for 12-16hrs before straining into a sealable container with as little head space as possible to maintain freshness.
6. Serve over ice and enjoy!
Iced Aerocano
A quick way to enhance your iced americano, once you try it you won’t want it any other way. To make this drink hot, simply remove the ice, and steam to your desired temperature - Choc Ice is equally delicious when enjoyed hot!
What you’ll need:
- 85g Ice.
- Double espresso shot of Choc Ice.

85-150g Water, depending on your preference.
Recipe:
1. Pull your Choc Ice espresso shot to your preferred recipe. Meanwhile, add 85g ice and 85-150g of water to your steam jug.
2. Add the espresso to your steam jug and steam for 8-12 seconds, or until the ice has almost completely melted.
3. Pour over ice and enjoy.
Choc Ice Affogato
A summer classic, perfect for treating yourself or your guests, take your affogatos to the next level with Choc Ice! We recommend using high quality ice cream, such as Hackney Gelato’s Madagascan Vanilla, for the best results.
What You’ll Need:
- A single or double espresso shot of Choc Ice.
- A scoop of vanilla ice cream or gelato.
Recipe:
1. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to a glass or bowl of your choice.
2. Brew your espresso, and immediately pour over the ice cream.
3. Find the closest patch of sun and deck chair and enjoy.
Choc Ice Mont Blanc
A delightful combination of creamy textures, sweetness, and rich chocolatey notes, this coffee-based cocktail tastes as good as it looks. Use Coffee Blossom Honey, and cream from The Estate Dairy, for the perfect Choc Ice Mont Blanc.
What You’ll Need:
- Half an orange
- Coffee Blossom Honey
- Vanilla Essence
- ¼ tsp of Nutmeg
- ¼ tsp of Cinnamon
- Estate Dairy Cream
- 50ml of Choc Ice cold brew.
- Ice to serve
Recipe:
1. Add the juice from half an orange, a drizzle of honey, a few drops of vanilla essence, 1/4tsp of nutmeg and cinnamon into 50ml of cream. Whisk until the cream thickens into a cold foam.
2. Add 50ml of Choc Ice cold brew concentrate and 100ml of water into a glass, over ice and stir to combine.
3. Add your cold foam, and finish with orange zest to garnish.
